Ingredients
2 cups grated mushrooms (any kind you like)
1 cup besan (gram flour)1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste1 green chili, finely chopped1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder1 teaspoon red chili powder1/2 teaspoon cumin powder1/4 teaspoon asafoetida (hing)1 tablespoon oilSalt to tasteFor tempering:1 teaspoon oil1/2 teaspoon cumin seedsA pinch of asafoetida (hing) Instructions
Get Started:
1. In a large bowl, combine the grated mushrooms, besan, ginger-garlic paste, green chili, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, asafoetida, and salt.
2. Gradually add water while mixing until you get a smooth batter. The batter should be slightly thicker than pancake batter.
Cooking Time:
1. Grease a steamer or dhokla pot with oil.
2. Pour the batter into the greased dish.
3. Cover and steam for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
The Finishing Touch:
1. While the dhokla is steaming, prepare the tempering. Heat oil in a small pan, add cumin seeds, and let them splutter. Add asafoetida.
2. Once the dhokla is cooked, let it cool slightly.
3. Cut the dhokla into squares.
4. Pour the tempering evenly over the dhokla.
Serve Hot:
Enjoy your mushroom dhokla with green chutney or sweet chutney. It’s a delicious and satisfying snack or light meal!
Tips:
