Mushroom Tagliatelle: A Simple Weeknight Dinner
Who says fancy pasta is reserved for fancy restaurants? This mushroom tagliatelle recipe is proof that you can whip up something delicious and satisfying in your own kitchen. Ingredients:
Tagliatelle
Mushrooms (any kind you like, but cremini or portobello work great)GarlicOlive oilButterWhite wine (optional)Heavy cream (optional)Parmesan cheeseSalt and pepper Instructions:
Get started:1. Cook the pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the tagliatelle and cook according to package directions. Reserve about a cup of pasta water before draining.
2. Prep the mushrooms: While the pasta cooks, slice your mushrooms. If you like, you can sauté them in a little olive oil until golden brown for extra flavor.
Make the sauce:1. Sauté the garlic: In a large skillet, melt butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
2. Combine with mushrooms: Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until softened. Season with salt and pepper.
3. Add flavor: If you want a little extra oomph, deglaze the pan with white wine. Let it reduce by half, then stir in heavy cream for a richer sauce.
4. Toss with pasta: Once the pasta is cooked, add it to the skillet with the mushrooms and sauce. Toss everything together to coat the pasta evenly. If the sauce is too thick, add some of the reserved pasta water to loosen it up.
Serve it up:1. Plate and garnish: Divide the pasta among plates and top with grated Parmesan cheese. Serve immediately.
Optional additions: Fresh herbs: A sprinkle of fresh parsley or basil can brighten up the dish.
Red pepper flakes: For a little kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.Pesto: If you have some leftover pesto, stir it into the sauce for a burst of flavor.Enjoy your Homemade mushroom tagliatelle!Remember: Feel free to adjust the ingredients and flavors to your liking.
